The CIT Cork School of Music will open until midnight with tours of the building, awarded the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland’s Award for the Best Educational Building in Ireland in 2008. Starting at 6pm, tours will leave from the Ground Floor Concourse every half hour up to 11pm.

Backwater Artists Group will open its doors for guided tours every half hour. Exhibitions of artists work in the studio complex will include paintings by Elaine Coakley, an exhibition of sculpture and drawing by Tony Magner and a Marimekko inspired woodcut frieze in the courtyard by Máire O’Mahony. Light refreshments will also be available.

Barbara Hubert Bookbindery The bookbindery will be open for tours from 4pm. You can see the work in progress – thesis, new bindings and restoration. At 6pm there will be a demo showing the techniques of making a book from stitching sections to making and embossing the cover.

Take a tour of Cork Foyer Garden Project (most famously renowned for its involvement in the TV series “Corrigan’s City Farm”), a workshop on push bikes provided by the Cork Community Bikes, and a taster of a number of other things that regularly go on at the Foyer through local involvement.
