There was good news for some sporting groups in the four RAPID areas in Cork city recently. Seven groups which were successful under the Sports Capital Programme 2004 have received a further boost in that they will now receive additional top-up funding of up to 30%. This applies only to successful projects in RAPID areas that were endorsed by the RAPID Area Implementation Team.

Overall, the groups received an additional €137,000 on top of the €480,000 previously awarded. The funding was granted through the Dept. of Community, Rural & Gaeltacht Affairs and is part of a €2 million to-up fund for sports projects in the RAPID areas countrywide.
This funding is the latest in series of recent funding boosts for the RAPID areas in Cork city. These include €72,000 for a playground in each RAPID area and €66,000 towards Local Authority Enhancement works in each RAPID area.
