The City Neighbourhoods Competition is organised by the Department of Environment, Heritage, and Local Government. The competition consists of various categories, such as residential and commercial with the 5 major Cities - Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Waterford and Galway competing. This year, St. Patrick Street was entered by Cork City Council and won not alone its subcategory prize, but its category prize and went on to win the Overall Award as Best City Street. The prize was presented at the recent Awards Ceremony in Dublin Castle on the 15th November 2004.
