Mayor Gavin Newsom recently visited Cork as part of a three day visit designed to renew and strengthen the links between Cork and San Francisco. Accompanying Mayor Newsom on this Trade and Friendship Mission to Ireland were representatives from the San Francisco - Cork Sister City Committee, San Francisco City Officials and representatives from the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. The visit to Cork was the first overseas visit undertaken by Mayor Newsom to one of San Francisco's twinned cities.
Mayor Newsom addressed a Special Meeting of Cork City Council on Monday 19th September and attended a Civic Reception hosted by Cork City Council to welcome his delegation to Cork.

Representatives from the San Francisco - Cork Sister City Committee, San Francisco officials and representatives from the Board of Supervisors.
During his stay in Cork Mayor Newsom visited Cobh Heritage Centre and Fota Wildlife Park, Anglesea Street Garda Station, Apple Computers, Scoil Padre Pio in Churchfield, University College Cork, Port of Cork and attended a luncheon hosted by Heineken Ireland. Also in attendance at the luncheon were members of the Cork Chamber of Commerce.
