Contract signing N25/N27 Grade Separation of Kinsale Road Interchange

Lord Mayor Councillor Deirdre Clune and City Manager Joe Gavin centre stage for signing of contracts.

Contract signed on Friday, July 29th at 3.30 p.m in the City Manager's Office.

The commencement of the contract for the Kinsale Road Interchange is very much welcomed by Cork City Council.

For a number of years traffic congestion has been a problem at the Kinsale Road Junction. Indeed this is mentioned many mornings on the traffic reports on the radio. The construction of this Interchange will reduce journey times and relieve congestion at this vital junction on the South Ring Road.

• The contract for the construction of the Interchange, plus Approach Ramps, has been awarded to Ascon Limited.
• The consultant engineers for the project on behalf of Cork City Council are Arup Consulting Engineers; the engineering designers with Ascon Ltd. are Matt MacDonald Engineering Consultants
• The estimated cost is in the order of €25 million, funding for which has been provided (100%) by the National Roads Authority.
• The completion date is March 2007.
