CHILDREN AND YOUTH CATEGORY
Winner: Ballinlough Senior Youth Club

The Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr Donal Counihan, announced the winners of the Community The Evening Echo and Voluntary Awards at a special Awards Ceremony in the City Hall on Thursday, 24th April 2008.
Speaking at the ceremony the Lord Mayor said “It is a privilege for me to present these awards to groups who devote themselves to the betterment of our city recognising their tireless commitment and dedication and to commend everybody for the work they do to make Cork a better place to live.”
Over 80 groups were nominated for the Awards this year and the event was well attended by over three hundred people.
The ceremony is a valued opportunity to thank and reward the Community and Voluntary sector for their energy and commitment to the quality of life of Cork and its citizens. The Awards ceremony is a night of celebration for the sector.
There are five categories:
Sport Community and Neighbourhood Services Equality and Social Inclusion Art and Culture Children and YouthThe winner of each category received a trophy and a cheque for €1,000 and the runners up in each category received a trophy and a cheque for €500.
