Public Consultation on Development of Local Transport Plan

CORK CITY COUNCIL INVITES PUBLIC VIEWS

ON DEVELOPMENT OF LOCAL TRANSPORT PLAN

During June and July 2008, Cork City Council will be asking the public for their views on how transport can be improved in Cork city. The purpose of the Plan is to provide a direction and focus for Cork City Council to enable the Council deliver a high quality sustainable transport system.

Four national schools: Scoil Mhuire Banríon, Na Croise Naofa Scoil, Scoil Mhuire Fatima and an Spioraid Naomh (Buachaillí) have been assisting in the process by developing three dimensional maps of the city area. The maps will be on display at a number of locations in the city. The public are invited to attend one of these locations and place an issue card to express how they would like to see transport in Cork city.  These locations are:

Date                            Place                                                   Time

19 - 20th June              Blackpool Shopping Centre                  12-2pm (19th) & 3-7pm (20th)

25-26th June                Mayfield Library                                   2-7pm (25th) & 2-5pm (26th)

26th June                      Ballyphehane Community Hall              3-7pm

27-28th June                Mahon Point Shopping Centre              2-7pm

3-4th July                     Wilton Shopping Centre                        2-7pm

Members of the public are invited to the above schools and place an issue card (blank ones provided) on the map. A questionnaire and log book will be available for additional views. A questionnaire is also available online at www.corkcity.ie  or the public may write to Cork City Council, Traffic Division, VHI House, 70 South Mall, Cork.

E-mail: traffic@corkcity.ie.

It is important for the development of the Local Transport Plan that views and concerns are expressed.  The results will be incorporated into the Local Transport Plan.
