The second annual Cork City Marathon took place on Bank Holiday Monday, 2nd June, 2008 with in excess of 7,000 runners participating on the day.
Cork man, Roy Fahy (East Cork AC), won the 2008 Champion Sports Cork City Marathon in a time of 2:33:55. Lucy Brennan from Sligo won the womens race in 2:54:47. Last year's inaugural men's winner, Alan O'Shea, and his team, ‘Rivergold Road Runners’, won the Team Relay Event in 2:23:38 while Jerry Forde won in the wheelchair category crossing the finish line in a time of 3.47.
Supporters and volunteers lined the streets of the city to cheer the runners on in what has become one of Cork’s greatest sporting events. Further details on race times are available from the official website www.corkcitymarathon.ie
