Cork City Council operates a Landfill Site at Kinsale Road, Cork, for the disposal of domestic waste collected from households and a small amount of acceptable commercial/industrial waste brought in vans with maximum unladen weight of 1.5 tonnes.

The site occupies an area of 66 hectares and waste management operations are carried out under licence from the Environmental Protection Agency (Licence No 12-2).

Landfill Gas is collected on site and used for the generation of electricity which is fed into the national grid. The electricity generated meets the requirements of 1,400 households.

Long term proposals for the site include the development of a city park covering approximately 50 hectares when capping of the active area is complete.

Sundays, Bank Holidays Closed

Also located at the site is a Civic Amenity Centre and the City Council's Laboratory
