  • Footpath works on Christy Ring Bridge and Brian Boru Bridge Pedestrians please follow signposting for crossings (Bam).
  • Lane restrictions on North Ring Road (Silversprings) from 8.30am to 2.30pm to facilitate the removal of overhanging trees (Parks Dept C.C.C.).

Monday 6th February 2012

  • Lane restrictions on Lower Glanmire Road outbound from Tivoli Flyover to Burke’s Hill from 9.30am to 6.00pm Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday to facilitate resurfacing works (Lagan).

Tuesday 7th February 2012

  • St Finbarr’s Road will be closed from Noonan’s Road junction from 9.30am to 4.00pm Tuesday and Wednesday to facilitate footpath works (Lagan).
  • The  Pedestrian Traffic Signals on Georges Quay will be switched off from 9.30am to 4.00pm to facilitate the upgrading of the signals.
  • Blarney Street will be closed from Upper Cattle Market Street to Bakers Road from 7.30pm to 11.00pm for water repairs.
  • Possible delays on Blackrock Road from 7.30pm to 11.00pm Tuesday and Wednesday Night (CLG).
  • Traffic Signals at Christy Ring Bridge will be turned off to facilitate work on lights from 8.00pm to 6.00am Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Traffic management will be in place.

Wednesday 8th February 2012

  • Tramore Lawn will be closed from 7.30pm to 11.00pm for water repairs.

On Going Works

  • Grenville Place & Bachelor’s Quay access only in place, due to quay wall works (Cork City Council).
  • Gas Works lane closed due to falling masonry from gable end of building (Building Inspectors Office, Cork City Council).
  • Hibernian Foot Bridge will remain closed until the end of February to facilitate refurbishment works on the bridge.


Public Notice - Jack Lynch Tunnel

Temporary Closures for essential upgrade works in accordance with the EU Directive on Road Tunnels 14th January to the 13th July 2012


1. Notice is hereby given that a section of  the South Ring Road (N25) between Dunkettle Interchange and Mahon Interchange, including the Jack Lynch Tunnel & Tunnel Management Building / Little Island access road will be closed to normal traffic overnight during the following  period 14th January 2012 - 29th June 2012 as follows:

21:30 hrs Saturday until 07:00 hrs Sunday
21:30 hrs Sunday until 07:00 hrs Monday
21:30 hrs Monday until 07:00 hrs Tuesday
21:30 hrs Tuesday until 07:00 hrs Wednesday
21:30 hrs Wednesday until 07:00 hrs Thursday
21:30 hrs Thursday until 07:00 hrs Friday
Friday overnight OPEN

2. These closures are necessary to facilitate essential upgrade works in accordance  with  the EU Directive 2004/54/EC on the minimum safety requirement for tunnels in the trans-European road network. Cork City Council regrets any inconvenience that may occur.

In between the overnight closures period the N25 including the Tunnel and its approach roads will be open to traffic as normal. No closures are planned overnight on Friday

3. Alternative traffic routes are available via the City Centre during the period of closures as follows:
On the North side of the river, Southbound traffic should travel from the Dunkettle Interchange to the City Centre via the Tivoli dual carriageway and Lower Glanmire Road (N8), and then follow signs for the South Ring (N25) via the South City Link Road (N27).

On the Southern approaches to the Tunnel, Northbound traffic should travel via the  Kinsale Road Roundabout to the City Centre via the South City Link Road (N27), and then follow signs for Dublin (N8) and Waterford (N25) via Lower Glanmire Road.

Persons wishing to object to this Temporary Road Closure should submit their objection in an envelope clearly marked “Temporary Road Closure – Jack Lynch Tunnel Upgrade Works” to Director of Services, Roads & Transportation Directorate, City Hall, Cork not later than 4.00pm on 30th December 2011.
