A Guide to the City's
- Investment Opportunities

- Plans for the future
At local level, a second long-term plan, CASP (Cork Area Strategic Plan), addresses land use and infrastructure requirements in the greater Cork City area - known as Metropolitan Cork.
Prepared jointly by the City and County Council, CASP sets out a detailed path up to the year 2020. It deals extensively with infrastructure projects but CASP is also concerned with stimulating investment, maintaining educational standards and with the preservation of the area's natural and cultural heritage.
In addition, CASP proposes a wide variety of initiatives to build upon Cork City's economic success stories. In this respect, the plan identifies a number of key economic themes. Please refer to the CASP website.
Also at local level are Development Boards established by the Irish Government to co-ordinate the activities of state agencies with local government, business and employers, voluntary groups and local communities. Whereas CASP deals mostly with land use and infrastructure issues, the Development Boards prepare Integrated Strategies for Economic, Social and Cultural Development. Actions resulting from these Development Board strategies can be followed through the websites listed below.
