Continuing Education Training

The Centre for Continuing Education, at UCC, provides learning opportunities for adults with programmes from starter courses to one year and two year diploma courses.

Similarly, CIT has a substantial Continuing Education programme in Business, Science and Engineering for employees wishing to upgrade skills and qualifications. Allied to this is a developing Open and Distance Learning activity for industry-related education and training programmes. The Institute also provides customised training to industry in the region, through individual academic departments and through the specialist technology centres in the Institute. These centres also provide consultancy services to the industry.

FÁS - National Training Agency

FÁS is the government agency involved in training people, both employed and unemployed, in new skills.

At Bishopstown in Cork City the agency has the largest facility of its kind in Europe. This centre provides a comprehensive range of courses on both a full-time and part-time basis. FÁS also encourages joint ventures with local employers and tailors training programmes to their needs. In the Cork area the agency has an emphasis on Information Technology and Business Courses in response to demand from local industry. FÁS also has two other Employment Services Offices in Cork City.
